For my wife
Johnene Lynette
Lynette
To be your friend was not enough
Or even to say “I love you”
But for you to be a part of me
And me a part of you
For in future days and moments
You will know it true
That what you feel for me
Is what I feel for you
*****
You Are Where I Want To Be
When my work and day are done
It is home I want to be
For you are the only one
You are where I want to be
When I muse about my life
I am where I want to be
With my love, my friend, and wife
You are where I want to be
Today, tomorrow, before
When you ask, Do you love me
I love and adore you – more
You are where I want to be
*****
Remember When
Remember when
You shared my life
As my best friend
My lover, my wife
Remember when
As my best friend
We shared our thoughts
Dreams without end
Remember when
As my lover
We pledged ourselves
To each other
Remember when
As my dear wife
Into this world
We brought new life
Remember when
You shared my life
As my best friend
My lover, my wife
Remember when
I held you close
Friend, lover, wife
I love you most
*****
Happy Anniversary
On this day of happiness and glee
I celebrate your marriage to me
You've lifted me up when I was down
You've made me smile, replaced my frown
For all the days you have given me
There is no one I would rather be
Than your husband, love, and bestest friend
From this day forward, to our life's end
*****
There Is Someone Following Me
There is someone following me
I don't know who it could be
But what my mind seems to see
Is impossible – it's me!
Now I know that cannot be
For I am here it's plain to see
But if I'm here, what is there?
Or if I'm there, what is here?
I wish its ace it would show
Then good or evil I would know
But in the darkness it confides
Its identity it does hide.
Another prospect I don't dare
What if it isn't there?
If that be, then all is clear
Insanity! The verdict here.
*****
How Could It Be
I looked in a mirror
And what did I see
A tiny reflection
Of someone like me
Whose cold lonely face
Showed a lover's last plea
Oh, how could it be
That is happened to me …
*****
Wait!
Wait! Wait was the word she said to me
Wait! Time will take its course – you'll see
So by that word we did proceed
A life of waiting we did lead
And through the years we both did wait
And then we found it was too late
*****
I Do
The many times I stared at you
I wonder if you really knew
The beauty that I saw in you
It was your love I did pursue
Searching for a love so true
A love that no one could undo
I think at times you really knew
About my hidden love for you
For many times I gave you clue
And I think you loved me too
For yours was a bigger clue
The Day you said “I do”
*****
Somewhere, Somehow
Somewhere, somehow
I'll find a girl
Who won't betray
My love away
Who will hold me
And keep me
And who will be
A part of me
Though dark clouds come
We are one
In our love-lore
For evermore
Somewhere, somehow
I'll find a girl
Who will hold me
And keep me
And be a mother
To the others
That will come
From our one
Who will walk my land
And hold my hand
And help me pray
To God each day
Somewhere, somehow
I'll find a girl
Who will be
A part of me
Who knows my thoughts
No's and ought's
Who knows my dreams
And what seems
The inter-most part
Of my heart
And it seems to be
That she is me
Somewhere, Somehow
I'll find a girl
Who helps me pray
To God each day
We'll walk God's way
Hoping to stay
United with trinity
God, her, and me
With understanding
We'll be standing
In God's light
To do what's right
*****
Look, Listen, and Touch
I look but I don't see
In your eyes the love for me
I listen but I don't hear
The words that I hold so dear
I touch but I don't feel
The warmth of a love so real
*****
The Hour is Long
The hour is long
The minute longer
And the second longest
To the man that sits
And matches wits
With the loneliest of all
Four gray walls
The hour is long
'The minute longer
And the second longest
The the man whose heart
Is torn apart
By things of yesterday
His walls are gray
The hour is long
The minute longer
And the second longest
To the man that walks
And never talks
In his journey in the blue
He's lonely too
The hour is long
The second longer
And the second longest
To the man that stands
On empty sands
Staring everywhere – yet nowhere
Does someone care?
*****
There is a Place
There is a place in the mountain
A lonely place it is
And by its watery fountain
I pray for what is His
And in this place where I gently kneel
By the watery foam
I bless God for what I feel
He's given me a home

Roses of White
Here's your flowers – What did you say? What?
Oh, well you see it's our anniversary – Have you
forgot?
Now you remember – What was that? What did you say?
Oh yes, I remember, it was a beautiful day
And remember those years and those wonderful days
Oh, dear God! They seemed so quickly to pass away
Oh don't cry, Dear – We'll soon be united and all will be right
But for now I have to go and leave you only these Roses of White
*****
The Sands of Time
The sands of time
Have left behind
All I knew
Of my love for you
The sands of time
Have really climbed
Since the day
You went away
The sand of time
And I have dined
For he knew
I loved you true
*****
We Were Dreamers
We were dreamers
And we know it to be true
That you were only dreaming
As I was of you
But still our fate
Seemed to hold us fast
As we held our visions
To the very last
But who is to say
That it wasn't right
For the things we did
To our delight
But if for what we've done
We are crucified
Then we will be together
Standing side by side
And though the images of our visions
Will silently slip away
Our feelings and our thoughts
Will never fade away
And in future days and moments
Your heart will know it true
That what you felt for me
Is what I felt for you
*****
A Poem to Ourselves
I am your sun
You are the daisy
Of my life
I am your man
You are my woman
You are my wife
You make me smile
I hold you close
I make you warm
You make me strong
I face the world
I calm the storm
I look at you
You look at me
You take my hand
I take the lead
You follow me
Across the sand
We found our place
We found love
We found each other
We have our hopes
We have our dreams
We have each other
*****
This Rose
I can't think of a more precious gift
Than what I feel for you
And I can't think of anything more pure
Than what I know is true
So from my heart in its deepest part
I give this rose to you
*****
Cherished Love
I still remember
That precious day
When you said, Hi
In your own sweet way
Yes, I remember
I haven't forgot
For that and others
Have since meant a lot
But there were things in life
I know not of
And one of them
Was cherished love
I destroyed your world
I tore it apart
And all was done
By forsaking a heart
I gave so little
I took so much
I looted your heart
With the cruelest touch
For there were things in life
I knew not of
And one of them
Was cherished love
I was not prepared
For what I met
And now I know
The meaning of regret
For I was a fool
And I couldn't see
What it would do
To you and to me
For there were things is life
I knew not of
And one of them
Was cherished love
And then one Sunday
I re-found you
The seed was planted
And how it grew
I searched my heart
And found it true
Much to my surprise
I feel in love with you
There are things in life
I know little of
And on of them
Is my new found love
This new found love
That I'm learning of
Is now becoming
My cherished love
And now each day
Of my life
I pray to God
You'll become my wife
For there are things in life
I now know of
And one of them
Is Cherished Love

Happy Mother's Day
A little poem to an awesome Mom
Wishing her a Happy Mother's Day
For all the times and those to come
When she nurtured our kids in her way
Thank you for all for all you've done
For making our house a home sweet home
Through all the good and the bad times
Through our shouts of joy and our whines
We love you Mom and we always will
Now and forever, forever still
For who you are and for being you
We're glad you are you, we love you
